About

What is Mifalon?

Mifalon (מפעלון, mifalon.com) connects people who need something made with people in Israel who have a hobby and good hands. The site is in Hebrew; this page gives the facts in English: how it works, what it costs and who runs it.

What is Mifalon?

Mifalon is an introduction service between people who need something made and people nearby who make things. A maker opens a shop: one page with their crafts, photos of past work and reviews. Someone who needs something finds a shop in the list or on the map and sends it a request.

The work itself, the price and the pickup are agreed directly between the two sides. The Hebrew name מפעלון means a small factory.

Where does Mifalon operate?

In Israel. The site is in Hebrew, and shops appear in a list and on a map of Israel. Each shop is shown as an approximate area, never as an address.

Which crafts are available near you depends on the shops open in your area. The current picture is in the makers directory and on the map, both in Hebrew.

What can you order?

Each shop picks its crafts from this list and can add something of its own:

Printing, cutting and embroidery.

  • 3D printing (FDM) (הדפסת תלת מימד): parts, gifts and prototypes printed in plastic, layer by layer.
  • Resin 3D printing (SLA) (הדפסת שרף): fine detail, miniatures and jewellery.
  • Laser cutting and engraving (חיתוך וחריטת לייזר): wood, acrylic, leather and signs.
  • CNC machining (CNC וכרסום): precise milling in metal, wood and plastic.
  • Vinyl stickers and signage (מדבקות ויניל): stickers, vinyl signs and car decals.
  • Garment and fabric printing (הדפסה על בגדים ובדים): T-shirts, bags, sublimation and DTF.
  • Machine embroidery (רקמה): machine embroidery on clothes, caps and towels.

Handmade.

  • Sewing and alterations (תפירה): made-to-measure sewing, alterations and costumes.
  • Woodworking (נגרות): furniture, boxes and custom woodwork.
  • Ceramics and pottery (קרמיקה): tableware, mugs, vases and sculpture in clay.
  • Handmade jewelry (תכשיטים): handmade necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings.
  • Knitting, crochet and macrame (סריגה ומקרמה): knitting, crochet, amigurumi dolls and macrame.
  • Candles, epoxy and concrete casting (נרות ויציקות): candles, scent diffusers, epoxy and concrete pieces.

Painting, design, photography and music.

  • 3D modeling for printing (עיצוב ומידול): a print-ready file, even without a printer.
  • Graphic design (עיצוב גרפי): logos, event invitations and labels, as print-ready files.
  • Painting and illustration (ציור ואיור): portraits from a photo, murals, illustration and calligraphy.
  • Event and balloon decor (עיצוב אירועים): balloons, flowers, table styling and photo corners for events.
  • Photography (צילום): newborn, family, events and products, in fixed-price packages.
  • Music production (הפקה מוזיקלית): production, mixing and mastering, with samples to listen to.

More crafts.

  • Electronics assembly and soldering (אלקטרוניקה): soldering, circuits, LED lighting and Arduino.

How does ordering work?

  1. Describe what you need or upload a file. In shops that 3D print, the calculator on the shop page gives a price range and a work time before you send a request.
  2. The request reaches the shop, and the conversation continues on WhatsApp. The final price, timing and pickup are agreed directly with the maker.
  3. Pick it up nearby. Some makers also send by post or courier.

You can send a request to any shop without opening an account.

What does it cost?

Ordering is free. You pay the maker directly; Mifalon does not hold or transfer the money.

Opening a shop is free, always. A free shop gets three requests from customers each month. A shop that gets more requests can move to the regular maker plan (יוצר מתמיד) for ₪60 a month, if it wants to. During the launch period everything is free and unlimited, and there is no commission on any deal.

Mifalon does not store anyone's credit card, so a charge cannot start by itself, and a paid plan takes effect only after advance notice.

How does a shop get listed?

Opening a shop takes about a minute: name, phone, city and what you make. The shop appears on the map and in search right away, with no wait for approval. A shop in an area that needs a licence or a check, such as food, cosmetics or work with children, appears after the Mifalon team has looked at it. Mifalon may hide a shop that breaks the terms of use.

You do not need a registered business or special equipment. People who knit at home or design on a computer open shops too.

How are reviews written?

A review can only be written through a personal link, created after the shop marks the job as finished. The shop sends the link, and it allows one review.

This blocks random reviews, but it does not guarantee that every review describes a job that happened. If a review looks fake, write to us and we will check.

Who sees my phone number?

A shop and its approximate area are public. The phone number of someone who sends a request is shown only to the shop that received it, and to the Mifalon team.

A shop's location is never shown exactly: before it reaches a browser, the server moves it by 300 to 600 metres and rounds it. Full details are on the privacy page (Hebrew). How to delete an account and its data is explained in English on the deletion page.

What does Mifalon not do?

  • Mifalon is not a party to the agreement. The work, the price and the delivery date are agreed directly between the person ordering and the maker.
  • Mifalon makes nothing and does not employ the makers.
  • Mifalon takes no commission and does not hold or transfer money.
  • Mifalon does not inspect every job and gives no product warranty.

The details are in the terms of use (Hebrew).

Who runs Mifalon?

Mifalon is run by one person, its founder, not by a company. Questions, complaints and requests reach him directly.

What stage is Mifalon at?

Mifalon is new and in its launch period. Things change and get added, and this page is updated with them.
